UNPRODUCED SCREENPLAY COMPETITION

Amazing Fantasy Fest holds two Unproduced Screenplay competitions, one for Features and one for Shorts. All submissions must be made through FilmFreeway.

Finalists are announced prior to the festival dates, when we announce nominations for the AFF Film Awards. One winner from each category will be announced at our awards presentation on Sunday, September 13th, and a list of winners will be posted online the following day.

Each Semi-Finalist is entitled to two Festival Passes good for the enetire event. Please notify us of two names to put on your VIP badges. Badges may be picked up at our table in our venue when the festival begins. We do not mail badges as souvenirs. Attending the festival does not impact judging.

Winners in the U.S. will receive an award plaque, laurels, and notes from one of our judges.  We do not require Finalists to attend the festival or our awards presentation, but we must charge $12 to ship plaques within the U.S. We do not ship plaques outside the U.S., please don't ask. USPS does not offer international tracking, and every time we've attempted to ship a plaque overseas it has taken months to reach the recipient, if it does rech them, with countless emails exchanged. Any international winners will receive a digital certificate in lieu of a plaque.

We do not stage screenplay readings.

Beginning when we re-open for submissions for our 2027 season, we will require the names of screenwriters to be removed from the cover page of all screenplay submissisons to promote anonymity during  the judging process.
